Traditions–Reflective Poem

What’s your vision–

Should someone inquire?

Would you go to church,

Attend and inspire?

Do you see steeples,

Pews in a row,

Classrooms for people

To learn and to grow?

If you consider

The church of old—

Think by the seaside,

Or homes where you grow.

Today we spend fortunes

On mortar and brick.

But, is that essential–

To worship’s the trick!

Of course we assemble

To encourage and grow.

Some rent a place—

Less funds, you know!

Put that aside—

With worship in view.

What is our purpose?

What should we do?

Disciples of old

Assembled and then,

Prayed to our God—

All was a win!

Communion was served

And hearts were combined.

Prayed and confessed—

It was divine!

View our assemblies–

Tradition kicks in—

What is our system?

Tradition, but then—

Also, it’s biblical

With elements, true.

Not a set order,

So, what Should we do?

Let’s look with fresh eyes—

Is God’s purpose clear?

Search in the Bible—

Rejoice, it is here!

Don’t let tradition

Control what you do!

God provides guidance—

Of course that is true!

There may be freedoms

Your search will provide.

God will give guidance—

Rejoice for you tried!

Examine your traditions —

Are they truth inspired?

Search out your source.–

That’s where truth’s acquired!
