Insights of a Thoughtful Life

Reflective thoughts, original poems and cultural commentary–posted weekly

“A weekly reflection through verse and imagery.

Original poems reflecting faith, memory, culture, and the quieter questions that shape a thoughtful life.

This brief poem pauses at the turn of the year, holding questions rather than answers.

What are you thinking

As you close out this year?

Have you tied all loose ends—

New start to a new year?

A review of the past

Should you choose to look,

Are there rays of light

Or brightness forsook?

After assessing,

The year gone past,

We’ve studied upon

What we think will last!

Look for the good—

Examine the other.

NOW, get to work—

Is the good now covered?

What’s REALLY important?—

The direction you take,

Makes life sweeter—

Fulfilling and GREAT!

Consider the long haul.—

Would you be pleased?

Remember your life

Helps others succeed!

  1. Sweet words and good reminders. I’ve been going through old pictures, cards, letters, etc., and have my own folder of Martha’s poems for John and me. I can’t tell you how much they mean to me. Love you!
