Between the reflection and the commentary, Martha’s poem invites us to pause over the deeper question beneath financial pressure: what really steadies a life?
Who floats your boat
In this this thing called life?
Do you feel secure
Or drifting in fright?
Do you look at others
To determine your path,
Or seek God in Heaven
To help you to last???
Sure, there are problems—
High costs come your way.
Do you then panic
And know not what to say?
God in his wisdom
Can help us to cope.
Look for the positive—
That is NO joke!
Peace is attainable
With God at the helm!
He’ll guide you through life
If we will let Him!
God has his helpers—
Disciples can share.
Is security in wealth?
Does God really care?
Our boat may rock
And even face storms.
Hold onto God’s promise,
And DON’T be alarmed!
The providence of God
Will carry us through.
He’s our creator
And REALLY loves you!
God knows when we’re troubled,
But He can bring peace.
Worry and anxiety
God can release.
